This program is located in the Grande Prairie Museum's Community Room. Images of faraway places and ancient peoples may come to mind when thinking about archaeology. Indeed, in August, Drs. Peuramaki-Brown and Morton presented just this type of research about an ancient Maya townsite in Belize. But any time we use the things people made, used, and discarded to tell stories of the past, we are doing archaeology. In this presentation, we will discuss a recent and ongoing research project that is much closer to the here and now. We will be talking about our community-based archaeological research programme at the Old Bezanson Townsite, a settler community from the early 20th C here in the Peace Region.
